The First Deputy Minister of Health of Tajikistan, Salomatdin Jabbor Yusufi, highlighted the role of Pakistani medical students in enhancing bilateral cooperation. He said these students are helping strengthen people-to-people ties between Tajikistan and Pakistan.
Universities such as Avicenna Tajik State Medical University (ATSMU) in Dushanbe host around 450 Pakistani students. Yusufi noted that the institutions provide modern facilities that meet international standards. Both countries are working to formalize academic and faculty exchanges through a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The remarks were made during a session with a Pakistani media delegation led by Dr. Muhammad Abbas Mahar, CEO of MBBS Abroad Consultancy Pvt Ltd. Representatives from print and electronic media attended, along with university rectors and senior officials from Tajikistan’s Ministry of Health.
Yusufi emphasized Tajikistan’s ambition to become a regional hub for affordable, high-quality medical education. He identified key areas for cooperation, including clinical services, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, telemedicine, health IT, insurance, and public health initiatives. He also invited Pakistan’s private sector to establish clinics, hospitals, and joint ventures with local partners.

Looking ahead, both countries plan to expand medical education exchanges, medical tourism, and joint ventures in 2026. High-level meetings in 2025 have advanced MoUs in medical education, pharmaceuticals, and broader health frameworks.
