Pakistani student Ayesha Mumtaz wins bronze at Asian Junior Boxing Championship

Pakistani student Ayesha Mumtaz has made her country proud by winning a bronze medal at the Asian Junior and School Boxing Championship in Abu Dhabi. Competing in the 46kg weight category, Mumtaz defeated Vietnamese boxer Thi Hong Yen Nguyen in the quarterfinals to secure her medal.

The championship, organized by the Asian Boxing Confederation, is taking place in Al Ain City from August 27 to September 10. Mumtaz, who was the sole Pakistani competitor, demonstrated exceptional skills with well-placed jabs that were key to her success.

Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, President of the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), congratulated Mumtaz and praised her achievement as a testament to the talent of Pakistan’s young athletes. The PBF is committed to supporting emerging talent and anticipates further successes from Mumtaz and other athletes.

Mumtaz is the second female Pakistani boxer to win a bronze at the Asian Boxing Championships, following Hadiya Kamal’s achievement in 2022.
