Pakistani Athletes Faiqa Riaz and Kishmala Talat Compete in Paris Olympics

Pakistani athletes Faiqa Riaz and Kishamala Talat are set to compete at the Paris Olympics on August 2, with Riaz running in the women’s 100m sprint and Talat participating in the 25m pistol shooting event. 

Riaz, who is competing on a universality quota, will race in the preliminary round with 91 athletes, aiming to secure a spot in the next round. She is focusing on her training and performance while not accompanied by her coach, Fiaz Ahmed, and is seeking guidance online.

Talat, the first Pakistani woman to directly qualify for the Olympics, will compete in the 25m pistol event. Her participation marks a historic moment for Pakistani shooting. She will also compete in the 10m air pistol team event and the 25m air pistol event, with the qualification round starting at 9:00 am local time and the final at noon.

The Pakistani contingent includes seven athletes: four men and three women. After August 2, GM Bashir will compete in rapid-fire pistol on August 4, while Arshad Nadeem will compete in the javelin throw on August 6 and 8. Despite the challenges, Chef de Mission Muhammad Shafiq expressed pride in the athletes’ efforts and performance.
