ISPR denies rumors of COAS visit to US, says “baseless”.

Social media rumours about the army leader visiting the US are unfounded, according to ISPR

Major General Ahmed Sharif, Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), stated on Thursday that there had been “baseless rumours on social media” that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir was travelling to the US.

The army commander was visiting the UK on official business from February 5 to February 10 in connection with the fifth Pakistan-UK Stabilization Conference, according to a tweet from the military’s spokesperson.

A “bi-annual occasion for military to military collaboration between the two countries,” he continued, the conference was. Since 2016, senior military leadership from Pakistan has taken part in the event, according to the ISPR DG.

On Sunday, COAS Munir landed in the UK. He would attend talks on defense-related subjects scheduled for February 5 through February 9, according to a report at the time by Dawn. Gen. Munir was reportedly in London for a session at Wilton Park, an executive organisation established by the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office to encourage open communication between countries.
