The eagerly awaited World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 match between cricketing rivals India and Pakistan has been officially cancelled.

Scheduled for Sunday at Edgbaston, the match was called off following an announcement by tournament organisers via their official social media channels.
The World Championship of Legends (WCL) has officially cancelled the much-anticipated India-Pakistan cricket match. According to Geo News, the decision followed reports that several Indian players refused to play unless Pakistani star Shahid Afridi was excluded from the squad and barred from attending the match.

In their statement, WCL expressed their passion for cricket and desire to offer fans joyful moments. “With recent sporting ties like Pakistan’s hockey team visiting India and other inter-nation fixtures, we hoped the WCL India-Pakistan game would create positive memories,” the organisers said.

“However, we’ve decided to cancel the match,” the statement continued, offering an apology for any hurt sentiments and asking fans for understanding.

Notably, Pakistan, captained by Mohammad Hafeez, had earlier won the WCL 2025 opener against England Champions by five runs. Defending a total of 161, Pakistan restricted England to 155-3, with Sohail Khan holding his nerve in the final over.
