Pakistan has expressed serious concerns over the recent India-Afghanistan joint statement, terming several of its points misleading and provocative. The Foreign Office raised objections through diplomatic channels, emphasizing that such remarks could harm regional peace and cooperation.
According to Islamabad, the joint statement unfairly portrayed Jammu and Kashmir as part of India, a stance Pakistan says violates international law and United Nations resolutions. Pakistan reaffirmed that Kashmir remains a disputed territory awaiting resolution under UN mandates.
The government also rejected claims made by Afghan officials suggesting that terrorism is an internal problem of Pakistan. It reminded Kabul that terrorist networks are operating from Afghan soil and that it is Afghanistan’s responsibility to prevent cross-border attacks.
Pakistan further highlighted its decades-long hospitality toward millions of Afghan refugees and reiterated its right to regulate illegal foreign residents. Officials stated that the ongoing repatriation of undocumented Afghans is a legal and necessary process, not a political one.
Islamabad urged Afghanistan to avoid aligning with narratives that could increase mistrust between neighbors. It also called on New Delhi to stop exploiting diplomatic platforms to spread misinformation about Pakistan.
The Foreign Office stressed that Pakistan remains committed to regional stability, dialogue, and counterterrorism cooperation. However, it warned that attempts to distort facts or ignore Pakistan’s security concerns will only harm peace efforts in South Asia.
