Pakistan Traders Observe Nationwide Shutdown In Solidarity With Palestine

Traders across Pakistan observed a complete shutdown on Saturday to express solidarity with Palestinians facing Israeli aggression in Gaza, as announced by Kashif Chaudhry, President of the Central Organization of Traders Pakistan. Business closures were reported nationwide, from Khyber to Karachi, covering key cities like Gujranwala, Gujarat, Multan, Karachi, Hyderabad, and Quetta.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Chaudhry urged the government to impose restrictions on Israeli imports and ban the production and sale of Israeli products within Pakistan. He stressed that every Pakistani has a duty to support the Palestinian cause through economic measures.

Chaudhry claimed that nearly $20 billion flows annually from Pakistan to Israel, funds he argued could be redirected to strengthen Pakistan’s economy and reduce reliance on foreign loans. He pointed out that Israel uses these funds to acquire weapons used against Palestinians.

In addition to the boycott, Chaudhry called for broader economic reforms, including the promotion of Pakistani brands and lower energy costs to boost local industries. He appealed to traders emotionally, suggesting that the sacrifices in Gaza have opened new opportunities for Pakistan’s business community.
