Pakistan To Host Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit In 2027

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has confirmed that Pakistan will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in 2027. He directed authorities to begin preparations early to ensure a successful event.

Speaking on Friday, Sharif highlighted ongoing development projects in Islamabad. He said work is underway to upgrade Constitution Avenue, which is likely to play a central role during the summit.

The prime minister also emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to environmental sustainability. He pointed out that electric vehicle transport has already been introduced in the capital as part of broader green initiatives. These measures, he added, will help improve public travel facilities and protect the environment.

Sharif also underlined the importance of infrastructure development. He described the T-Chowk Flyover as a landmark project that will benefit Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and nearby areas. The one-kilometer flyover will provide better access to the Expressway and reduce travel time for commuters.

Hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit is seen as a major diplomatic opportunity for Pakistan. The event will bring together leaders from SCO member states, strengthening cooperation in politics, security, and trade. It will also allow Pakistan to showcase its progress in infrastructure and governance.

Officials believe that holding the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit will highlight Pakistan’s role in regional diplomacy. The event is expected to attract international attention and foster stronger ties with Asian nations.

The government has signaled that significant investments will be made in transport, hospitality, and security arrangements ahead of the gathering. Preparations will likely include upgrading key facilities to meet international standards.

By hosting the summit, Pakistan aims to project itself as a proactive partner in regional stability and development. Leaders hope the event will create lasting benefits for the country and its people.
