Pakistan is expected to conduct the final bidding round for PIA in mid-December, with four shortlisted groups already in advanced talks over commercial terms. The federal cabinet will approve the reserve price before the bidding takes place.
The competing bidders include Fauji Fertilizer, Air Blue, a consortium led by Lucky Cement and Hub Power, and another team led by Arif Habib Corporation. Lawmakers emphasized transparency and demanded strong job protection measures for PIA staff during the privatization process.
Officials informed that PIA currently operates 18 aircraft and will need many more for smooth operations. Meanwhile, the government is also considering transferring power companies to private management, and continues progressing on other privatization projects.
