The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced on Saturday that it has successfully resolved the recent internet service disruptions caused by a fault in the AAE-1 submarine cable. A temporary bandwidth was added to the system, bringing stability to the country’s internet services.
The issue, which had affected users across Pakistan since January 2, was related to a fault in the AAE-1 submarine cable, a critical link for international internet traffic. The PTA assured the public that it had taken immediate action to mitigate the impact by incorporating ad hoc bandwidth to restore connectivity.

While the internet services have stabilized, the PTA has committed to overseeing the restoration of the AAE-1 cable. The authority also emphasized its efforts to ensure uninterrupted service during this period of repair.
Despite the resolution of this particular issue, Pakistan has been facing ongoing internet slowdowns, with many blaming submarine cable faults for the persistent disruptions. Freelancers, a significant contributor to the economy, have been particularly affected. Additionally, there have been concerns over a possible “firewall” experiment, contributing to the internet woes.
