Pakistan Requests Saudi Arabia For Increase In Hajj Quota

Pakistan has officially reached out to Saudi Arabia, requesting an increase in its Hajj quota due to the country’s growing population.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf confirmed that a formal letter has been sent to Saudi authorities. The government is now waiting for an official response regarding the proposed increase.

Currently, Pakistan’s Hajj quota stands at 230,000 pilgrims. With the country’s population exceeding 230 million, the minister stated that the existing quota is no longer proportional to demand. He emphasized that a higher quota would allow more citizens to fulfill their religious obligation.

“The letter has been submitted, and we are awaiting Saudi Arabia’s decision,” Sardar Yousaf said. He clarified that the kingdom holds full authority over Hajj quotas and reviews them based on each country’s population.

Saudi Arabia has not yet increased the quota for Pakistan or any other country this year. Officials in Pakistan expressed hope that the request will be considered fairly, allowing more pilgrims to perform Hajj in the coming season.

The Religious Affairs Ministry highlighted that Pakistan consistently sends one of the largest groups of pilgrims annually. Officials noted that the demand for Hajj is rising, especially in densely populated provinces. Adjusting the quota would help accommodate citizens who have long awaited their turn for this spiritual journey.

The government assured the public that it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as soon as Saudi Arabia communicates its decision. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed through official channels regarding the Hajj application and travel process.

By seeking an increase in the Hajj quota, Pakistan aims to ensure that more citizens can participate in this important religious pilgrimage. The government remains committed to facilitating pilgrims and supporting their spiritual journey despite the challenges posed by population growth.
