Pakistan Receives USD 3.2 Billion In Remittances During September 2025

Pakistan received $3.2 billion in remittances from overseas workers in September 2025, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported.

This marked an 11.3% increase compared to $2.9 billion recorded in September 2024. On a monthly basis, remittances rose 1%, up from $3.1 billion in August 2025.

During the first three months of fiscal year 2025-26, Pakistan received $9.5 billion in remittances, up 8.4% from $8.8 billion in the same period last year. Remittances play a key role in supporting Pakistan’s external account and boosting household incomes.

Since 2009, the Pakistan Remittance Initiative (PRI) has worked to channel remittances through formal financial networks. The number of financial institutions in the PRI network increased from 25 in 2009 to more than 50 by 2024, including conventional banks, Islamic banks, microfinance banks, and exchange companies.

Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs) are also authorized to receive remittances through banks. The number of international entities participating in the system has grown from around 45 in 2009 to roughly 400 currently.

Overseas Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia sent $751 million in September 2025, up 2% from August and 10% higher than last year. The UAE contributed $677 million, a 7% year-on-year increase

Remittances from the UK totaled $455 million, down 2% from August but up 7% compared to September 2024. Pakistanis in the US sent $269 million, a 3% decrease year-on-year. EU countries contributed $424 million in total.

The steady inflow of remittances demonstrates the important role of overseas Pakistanis in supporting the national economy. Analysts say continued growth in remittances will help maintain economic stability and strengthen Pakistan’s external reserves.
