Pakistan Willing to Revive Stalled Talks with Afghan Taliban in Istanbul

Pakistan has expressed readiness to restart peace negotiations with the Afghan Taliban, proposing Istanbul as a neutral venue for renewed dialogue. Officials say the move reflects Islamabad’s commitment to regional peace and border stability.

According to diplomatic sources, Pakistan has conveyed its willingness to the Afghan interim government through backchannel communications. The talks aim to address recent tensions, cross-border attacks, and the growing threat of terrorism.

Islamabad believes dialogue remains the only sustainable path to resolving misunderstandings and restoring mutual trust. The government hopes that Turkey’s mediation could help both sides find common ground and rebuild communication.

The decision follows weeks of escalating border skirmishes and security operations against militant groups believed to be operating from Afghan soil. Pakistan insists such issues can be best resolved through coordinated efforts rather than confrontation.

Officials confirmed that Pakistan’s foreign office is working with Turkish counterparts to finalize meeting logistics. Turkey, which enjoys cordial ties with both nations, has reportedly agreed to host the discussions in Istanbul soon.

Analysts see this initiative as a diplomatic reset that could ease tensions and open the door for broader cooperation in counterterrorism and trade. However, success will depend on Kabul’s willingness to engage sincerely.
