Pakistan Champions have secured a place in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 final after India Champions withdrew from their scheduled semi-final clash on Wednesday.
The WCL confirmed the decision via its official Facebook page, announcing that the match had been canceled due to India’s refusal to play against Pakistan.
“In the WCL, we believe in the unifying spirit of sport,” the statement read. “However, public sentiment must be acknowledged and respected—our audience remains at the heart of everything we do.”
The organizers praised the Pakistan Champions for their commitment and confirmed that, due to India’s withdrawal, Pakistan would progress directly to the final.
This comes after India previously opted out of a group-stage match against Pakistan earlier in the tournament. Both sides were awarded one point each, but Pakistan finished at the top of the group after winning their remaining four matches.
India had secured their semi-final spot following a win over the West Indies but have declined to play the knockout match, reportedly due to ongoing tensions between the two nations.
Diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan worsened in May, when India launched an attack after accusing Pakistan of involvement in the Pahalgam incident—allegations Islamabad strongly denied. In response, Pakistan reportedly shot down multiple Indian fighter jets.
