Pakistan Railways is set to export its coaches and wagons to five countries, Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi announced on Wednesday.
Speaking to Geo News, Abbasi said the exports will target Chile, Argentina, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal. He added that ambassadors from these countries will be invited to the Ministry of Railways this week for presentations on the project.
Abbasi highlighted that Pakistan Railways achieved a record revenue of Rs. 10 billion in December. He attributed this success to improved passenger services and operational efficiency across the railway network.
The minister also mentioned that freight operations have been strengthened by involving private partners. Now, goods such as containers, coal, and phosphate are being transported more efficiently through Pakistan Railways, improving delivery times and reducing costs.
Abbasi emphasized that Pakistan Railways aims to provide high-quality coaches and wagons to the international market at competitive prices. This initiative is designed to showcase Pakistan’s manufacturing capabilities while boosting revenue from exports.
The project represents a major milestone for Pakistan Railways, reflecting its growing role in both domestic transportation and international trade. Officials believe that the export of railway equipment will strengthen trade relations with neighboring countries and other global partners.
Abbasi also noted that Pakistan Railways’ focus on modernization, private sector involvement, and service improvement has contributed to the organization’s success. By combining operational efficiency with high-quality production, the railways are positioning themselves as a competitive player in the global market.
The export initiative is expected to not only generate revenue but also create opportunities for further growth and investment in Pakistan Railways.
