Pakistan Railways has announced 45 contract-based vacancies for retired supervisory staff of the Carriage & Wagon and Mechanical Loco departments. The appointments will be made for one year, with the possibility of an extension for another year if required.
The vacancies have been announced by the Pakistan Railways Headquarters Office in Lahore. Retired employees who previously worked in the relevant categories can apply, provided they meet the required experience and physical fitness conditions. The maximum age limit for applicants is 62 years.
The Carriage & Wagon Department has announced 21 vacancies. These include one TXR/Grade-III position in BPS-14, two Foreman/Grade-I positions in BPS-14, six TXR/Grade-II positions in BPS-12 and eight Sub Engineer-II/Senior Chargeman positions in BPS-12. The department has also announced one Mistry position in BPS-09 and three skilled positions for C&W fitter, coach builder and welder in BPS-06.
The Mechanical Loco Department has announced another 24 vacancies. These include four Foreman/Grade-I and Electrical Foreman/Diesel Grade-I positions in BPS-14, seven AFO/Senior Chargeman, AEFO Diesel and FIC positions in BPS-12, and four JCM and S.E.E Diesel positions in BPS-11. Three Mistry positions in BPS-09 and six skilled Wireman Diesel, Fitter Mechanical and Electrical Diesel positions in BPS-06 are also available.
Candidates applying for the technical positions must have the required education and relevant experience. Several positions require a DAE in Mechanical along with 10 to 20 years of experience in the relevant field. Other posts require Middle-level education and relevant technical experience.
Selected employees will be required to pass a medical fitness examination conducted at a Pakistan Railways Hospital. Applicants who were compulsorily retired, dismissed or retired on medical grounds are not eligible for appointment.
Those selected will receive salaries according to the relevant BPS and their last pay drawn, along with applicable allowances. However, they will not be entitled to additional gratuity or pension benefits under the contract appointment.
Selected employees may be posted anywhere within the Pakistan Railways system. The contract will initially remain valid for one year and may be extended for another year if required.
Applicants must submit their applications along with attested educational certificates, CNIC, Railway retired identity card or experience certificate, PPO, LPC, service certificate, photographs and other required documents. A postal order of Rs. 500 is also required as the processing fee.
Applications must be submitted to the Chief Personnel Officer, Pakistan Railways, Headquarters Office, Empress Road, Lahore, by October 15, 2026. Applications received after the deadline or without the required processing fee will not be considered.
