Pakistan has urged all parties in Yemen to engage in inclusive dialogue to end the ongoing conflict. Millions of Yemenis are suffering due to the collapse of basic services. Pakistan also demanded the release of detained UN and humanitarian personnel.
Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, addressed the UNSC on Wednesday. He stressed that all Yemeni stakeholders and regional partners must work towards a political settlement that reflects the wishes of the people and maintains regional peace.
Speaking during a debate on Yemen, Ahmad expressed concern over the resurgence of violence. He welcomed the call by the internationally recognized Aden-based Presidential Leadership Council for comprehensive talks in Riyadh, facilitated by Saudi Arabia. He urged all parties to negotiate a solution based on agreed principles.
Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Yemen. The envoy strongly opposed unilateral actions by any Yemeni faction that could deepen divisions, escalate tensions, or undermine peace efforts.
Ahmad reiterated Pakistan’s support for a Yemeni-led political process. He emphasized respect for Yemen’s institutions and internationally recognized frameworks. The country also supports the active role of the UN and the Special Envoy in facilitating dialogue.
The Pakistani envoy condemned the detention of UN and humanitarian personnel and the seizure of UN properties in Houthi-controlled areas. He called these actions a clear violation of international law.
Pakistan also demanded unhindered humanitarian access with predictable and adequate funding to meet the urgent needs of the Yemeni population. The UNSC, he said, must act with unity to support a credible path toward peace.
Ahmad praised diplomatic efforts by Saudi Arabia and other regional countries, including Oman and the UAE. He expressed hope that these efforts would lead to concrete steps for lasting peace and relief for civilians.

UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg briefed the UNSC, warning that recent developments in southern Yemen show how quickly stability can collapse. He stressed that no single actor or military force can determine Yemen’s future. Inclusive dialogue, economic stabilization, and an UN-facilitated nationwide political process is critical.
While military de-escalation has been achieved recently, Grunberg cautioned that the security situation remains fragile, especially in southern governorates with rival deployments.
