Pakistan Prepares For Significant Rainfall And Snowfall This Week

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning of a significant spell of thunderstorms and snowfall on mountains in the coming 12 hours.

The Met Office’s forecast predicts substantial rainfall accompanied by snowfall in hilly areas across Pakistan starting from October 14.

According to the latest advisory, strong winds, rain-thunderstorms, and snow on high mountains are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Islamabad, upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

Isolated hailstorms are also likely in low-lying areas, with heavy precipitation expected in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Potohar region during this period.

The rest of the country is expected to experience dry weather during this time.

In the past 24 hours, temperatures in various cities have been as follows: Islamabad and Lahore at 21°C, Karachi at 27°C, Peshawar at 20°C, Quetta at 15°C, Gilgit at 15°C, Murree at 11°C, and Muzafarabad at 17°C.

The Met Office has also forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of rain and thunderstorms in Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Jammu, Shopian, and Baramula in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
