The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has revised the working schedule of passport offices across Pakistan. The change is part of the government’s austerity and fuel conservation policy.
Under the new schedule, passport offices will operate four days a week, from Monday to Thursday. Officials said this decision aims to reduce energy consumption amid ongoing economic and regional challenges.
Authorities emphasized that regional passport offices operating 24 hours a day will continue their regular services. This ensures that essential passport functions remain available to the public at all times.
The Islamabad Asaan Khidmat Center will maintain its existing shift system. Officials explained this measure will help facilitate applicants while allowing the department to save fuel and manage operational costs efficiently.
The revised working hours have been implemented with the approval of the Director General of Immigration and Passports, according to the official notification. Authorities urged citizens to plan their visits according to the updated schedule.
Essential services, including urgent passport issuance and verification, will remain accessible despite the reduction in operational days. The department assured the public that no service disruptions are expected.
Officials said the new schedule is a temporary measure aimed at promoting fuel efficiency and reducing operational expenses. The department continues to monitor the situation and may adjust working hours as needed.
Citizens are advised to check the timing of their nearest passport offices before visiting to avoid inconvenience. The move reflects the government’s commitment to balancing service delivery with energy conservation.
