Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated Pakistan’s first Coablation Cancer Treatment Centre in Lahore, introducing a groundbreaking 60-minute, pain-free cancer cure that eliminates the need for chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
The centre uses advanced Chinese technology, now available only in China and Pakistan, capable of removing cancer at its root within an hour. Maryam Nawaz announced the treatment will be free for underprivileged patients, with the government allocating Rs 5 billion to fund machines and ensure province-wide access. Each machine costs Rs 250 million, with probes priced at $5,500.
A machine has already been installed at Mayo Hospital, where five patients have successfully undergone treatment. Additional units are being arranged for South Punjab, Rawalpindi, and the under-construction Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital. Trials are also planned for kidney tumour treatment.
Maryam Nawaz hailed the development as a “ray of hope” for cancer patients, highlighting that local doctors, including Dr Shehzad, have received specialised training in China to operate the technology.
This milestone comes shortly after Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital conducted its first successful knee cancer surgery, offering a new lease of life to a young patient through artificial knee implantation.
