Pakistan is celebrating Air Force Day with great patriotic spirit, paying homage to the unmatched bravery and skill of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) during the 1965 war.
On this occasion, PAF personnel laid floral wreaths at the grave of Shaheed Rashid Minhas, saluting his sacrifice that continues to inspire future generations.
September 7 marks the historic aerial battles of 1965, where Pakistani pilots secured decisive victories over the larger Indian Air Force, defending the nation’s skies with extraordinary courage.
The day also recalls Squadron Leader M.M. Alam’s legendary feat of downing five Indian Hunter jets within minutes—four of them in just 30 seconds—a world aviation record that still stands.
During the conflict, the PAF carried out successful strikes on Indian airbases in Pathankot, Halwara, and Jamnagar, while providing crucial support on the Lahore and Sialkot fronts. Their fearlessness and tactical brilliance turned the tide of battle, cementing the PAF’s legacy as guardians of Pakistan’s airspace.
