Pakistan’s cricket team is preparing for its next international series in Bangladesh, and to tackle the challenging local conditions, the PCB is expected to recall Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sufiyan Muqeem, who were left out of the recent home series.

According to journalist Saleem Khaliq, both bowlers are likely to be included in the squad for the three-match T20I series in July.

They were previously rested as part of head coach Mike Hesson’s strategy to test young talent in familiar home conditions. However, with the slower pitches in Bangladesh, Hesson is expected to turn back to experienced performers like Shaheen and Sufiyan to boost Pakistan’s chances.

Shaheen, last seen in a T20I in March and having led Lahore Qalandars to a PSL title, is expected to return as the lead left-arm pacer. Sufiyan Muqeem, who offers a rare left-arm wrist-spin option, has shown promise with 18 wickets in 10 games and is seen as an asset on spin-friendly tracks.

With players like Shadab Khan, Saim Ayub, Salman Agha, and Khushdil Shah already in the mix, Sufiyan’s return would further strengthen the spin attack.

The Bangladesh tour will also mark Mike Hesson’s first overseas assignment with Pakistan, and the recalled players could play a key role in maintaining the team’s momentum.
