[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]On Monday, it was revealed that Pakistan had lifted the ban on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, after more than a month of being blocked. This decision came amidst widespread criticism directed at the government from various segments of society for its action in blocking the platform. As of the time of reporting, X can now be accessed without the need for a VPN.
The initial blockage of X occurred on February 17 in response to protests against alleged election rigging on February 8. Users remained unable to access the platform until the evening of March 18. The Pakistan Telecom Authority has not issued any official update regarding the lifting of restrictions on the platform, leaving the exact reasons for the unblocking unclear.
