Pakistan To Launch Direct Flights To Largest Central Asian Nation

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to strengthen economic ties by introducing direct flights between the two countries. The decision was made during a meeting between Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Tuesday.

Officials said the talks focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, expanding trade opportunities, and improving institutional links. Both countries agreed that direct air connectivity and joint efforts between Chambers of Commerce will play a key role in boosting trade.

Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted that improving connectivity is a shared priority to increase trade volumes significantly. He announced that Kazakh businesspersons would soon be eligible for two-year visas issued within 24 hours. A proposal for five-year multiple-entry visas for Chamber of Commerce members is also under review.

Ambassador Kistafin supported holding a business forum in Lahore, similar to one recently held in Karachi, and confirmed that Kazakhstan will actively participate in joint business events across Pakistan.

The meeting also reviewed the recent visit of Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and ministers to Pakistan. Abdul Aleem Khan said he will represent Pakistan at the upcoming Global Transport Conference in Kazakhstan.

Ambassador Kistafin added that Kazakhstan is exploring the establishment of a trade corridor with Pakistan using its own resources. Multiple routes through Afghanistan, China, and Iran are under consideration to make the project feasible.

Both leaders emphasized the untapped economic potential between Pakistan and Kazakhstan. They agreed that practical steps are needed to transform shared opportunities into real projects. The officials also discussed regional developments and challenges facing both countries.

Pakistan and Kazakhstan aim to enhance trade, improve business cooperation, and strengthen connectivity to unlock economic opportunities for both nations. Officials stressed that continued collaboration will be key to achieving these goals.
