Pakistan Cyclone Alert: Met Office Issues Advisory
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has reported the formation of a low-pressure system in the east-central Arabian Sea, approximately 985 km southeast of Karachi. The system is expected to intensify into a depression within 24 hours but currently poses no immediate threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas.
The Met Department has assured the public that the system is being closely monitored and is likely to initially move northward. The Cyclone Warning Centre in Karachi remains on high alert for any developments.

Meanwhile, the PMD has forecasted rain along with gusty and dusty winds across various regions starting Friday night. Areas including Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, and Gujrat are expected to experience these weather conditions, which should help alleviate the ongoing heatwave in northern and central Pakistan.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued wind and rain alerts for May 23-24, cautioning residents of Lahore and other districts to prepare for possible disruptions caused by strong winds and rainfall.
Authorities urge the public to stay vigilant and take precautions against potential damage to trees, power lines, and solar panels.
