Pakistan is set to announce its Test squad for the Bangladesh series next week

The Pakistan cricket team is gearing up for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, with several key players vying for spots in the squad. The final lineup will be determined next week, pending the return of red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie from Darwin, where he is currently with the Pakistan Shaheens.

Preparations for the series will include a training camp in the second week of August, ahead of the first Test starting on August 21 in Rawalpindi. This series will mark Pakistan’s return to Test cricket since their last match against Australia in January.

Significant changes are anticipated in the team composition, with potential exclusions due to form and fitness concerns. New talents like Mohammad Huraira and Sahibzada Farhan are being considered for inclusion, while players such as Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Saim Ayub, and Nauman Ali are reportedly at risk of being dropped.

The inclusion of Imam-ul-Haq is also under discussion, and decisions regarding Aamir Jamal and Hasan Ali will depend on their fitness levels.

Currently, Pakistan is ranked 6th in the ICC Test Rankings, while Bangladesh holds the 9th position.
