The initiative is part of a three-year plan aimed at supporting industrial growth by providing surplus electricity at a discounted rate. Under the scheme, industries saved Rs. 10.3 per unit, helping reduce production costs and improve competitiveness.
During the two months, a total of 1,176 million units of electricity were sold under the package. This represented 23.8 percent of total industrial electricity consumption.
In December 2025, industries consumed 557 million units under the program. This usage translated into savings of Rs. 5.743 billion, benefiting 125,829 consumers. In January 2026, electricity consumption under the scheme rose to 619 million units, accounting for 24.5 percent of total industrial usage. The relief for the month stood at Rs. 6.382 billion, benefiting 127,686 consumers.
Officials said that the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to support industrial activity while lowering energy costs. The Power Division added that the federal minister is closely monitoring the implementation of the package to ensure industries continue to receive benefits.
The Rs. 12 Billion relief is expected to help industries manage operational costs effectively. Both small and large-scale industries can take advantage of the scheme, which aims to boost production efficiency and overall competitiveness.
Authorities emphasized that the discounted electricity package is a key step in supporting industrial growth. The government continues to monitor energy supply and cost-saving measures to strengthen Pakistan’s industrial sector.
