Pakistan Hosts Saudi, Turkish, Egyptian FMs for Iran Crisis Talks

Pakistan hosts a high-level diplomatic meeting in Islamabad as regional tensions continue to rise. Foreign ministers from Egypt, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia have arrived in the capital for urgent talks on the ongoing Iran crisis.

The meeting comes at a critical time. The conflict between the United States and Iran has remained intense for weeks. Experts warn the situation could worsen if no progress is made soon. In this context, Pakistan hosts key regional leaders to explore ways to reduce tensions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also stepped up diplomatic efforts. He held a 90-minute phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. This was their second conversation within five days. Both leaders discussed the need for immediate de-escalation and possible dialogue between Washington and Tehran.

The two-day summit in Islamabad was arranged by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. It was initially planned to take place in Türkiye. However, it was moved to Pakistan at the last moment. This shift highlights Pakistan’s growing role as a regional mediator. As Pakistan hosts these talks, it aims to bring different sides closer to negotiation.

Sources suggest that more developments may follow soon. There are reports that direct talks between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi could take place in Pakistan. Officials are also considering a possible ceasefire announcement to support negotiations.

Iran has expressed serious concerns about trust. President Pezeshkian stated that US actions have created doubt in Tehran. He claimed that despite assurances from former US President Donald Trump, attacks continued. This has increased tensions further.

Iran also raised concerns about Israel’s possible role in expanding the conflict. Officials warned that the situation could spread across the region. They also mentioned concerns about the use of certain countries’ territories in operations against Iran.

Pakistan has strongly condemned recent strikes on Iranian cities such as Ahvaz and Isfahan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed solidarity with the Iranian people. He stressed that peace efforts must include respect, trust, and an end to violence against civilians.

Global powers are quietly supporting these diplomatic efforts. China has backed Pakistan’s role and encouraged dialogue. Reports also suggest that Iran has shared its response to a US peace proposal through Islamabad.
