Pakistan Hockey Team's Ranking Rose After Defeating Canada

The Pakistan hockey team’s ranking has improved, rising from 16th to 14th place. On Monday, Pakistan defeated Canada 8-1 in the Nations Cup. Their match against Malaysia ended in a draw.

In the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup 2024, Pakistan triumphed over Canada with a score of 8-1. Rana Waheed Ashraf scored four goals, Ghaznafar Ali added two, and Abdul Rehman and Abdul Hanan Shahid each scored one. Pakistan impressively scored five goals in the final nine minutes, showcasing exceptional performance.

Japan, however, defeated Pakistan in the final match of the 30th Azlan Shah Hockey Cup, winning a nail-biting match 4-1 in a penalty shoot-out to claim the gold medal. Pakistan earned a silver medal for their performance in reaching the final match, which took place on Saturday.

In a congratulatory message, President Asif Ali Zardari praised the Pakistan hockey team for their excellent performance throughout the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup, particularly in the final match against Japan.
