The confirmed venues for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 have placed the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) under pressure to ensure proper preparation for their team’s participation in the qualifiers.
The tournament, which will feature Asia’s top 12 women’s teams, is scheduled to take place from March 1 to March 21, 2026, across three major Australian cities: Sydney, Perth, and the Gold Coast. The qualifiers for the competition will occur from June 23 to July 5, 2025. With a seven-month lead time, the PFF has no excuses left to prepare, despite previous months of slow progress.

The qualifiers will also serve as a stepping stone for the 2029 AFC Women’s Asian Cup and the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with several international windows planned. These events will test PFF’s commitment to advancing women’s football in Pakistan.
The AFC has structured its calendar to maximize international match windows, ensuring optimal player welfare and competitive opportunities across its member associations, leaving little room for excuses from the PFF.
Despite changes to the PFF’s corporate structure, the national women’s football team has yet to show the promised improvements. The team continues to experience long gaps between matches, which negatively impacts performance. More regular play is crucial for securing better results in future tournaments.
