Pakistan’s men’s national football team has dropped three more places to 201st in the latest FIFA World Rankings, following a defeat to Myanmar in the Asian Cup qualifiers. The ranking marks a new low for the country, placing it among the bottom-tier footballing nations globally.
With only 10 teams now ranked lower, Pakistan is officially the worst-performing side in South Asia. Its regional peers, including Sri Lanka (196), Bhutan (186), Bangladesh (184), and Nepal (176), have all maintained stronger standings. Even Sri Lanka, long considered a struggling side, has improved by four places in the current update.

Since returning from a lengthy FIFA suspension and administrative turmoil, the team has failed to secure a competitive win beyond its lone success against Cambodia. Under the guidance of head coach Stephen Constantine, Pakistan has lost eight straight matches, sparking concerns over the sport’s tactical direction and institutional planning.
The updated rankings arrive as the 2026 World Cup cycle gains momentum, further highlighting Pakistan’s stagnation while global and regional rivals make steady progress. With no scheduled fixtures until October, growing calls are being made for the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) to implement urgent reforms.
