Pakistan has decided to extend its airspace closure for Indian aircraft by another month, continuing a restriction that was first imposed on April 24 due to rising bilateral tensions. A formal announcement will be made through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) expected later today.
The original ban was extended once on May 23 and was set to expire today. However, authorities have opted to prolong the restriction, citing the need to safeguard national airspace and maintain regional security.

The upcoming NOTAM will provide detailed instructions on the continued ban, which exclusively targets Indian air traffic. Pakistan’s airspace will remain open for all other international carriers and commercial operations.
The restriction has significantly affected Indian flight routes, compelling aircraft to adopt longer and more costly detours. The move underscores the sustained strain in Pakistan-India relations, with no immediate signs of de-escalation.
