This follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s directive to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to urgently send aid to the quake-hit nation.

Reports indicate that over 2,000 people have died since the 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar and neighboring Thailand. A day earlier, PM Shehbaz spoke with Myanmar’s Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, expressing condolences over the loss of lives and property.

He assured Myanmar’s leader that Pakistan is ready to assist in alleviating the suffering of those affected. He also informed him that NDMA would dispatch 70 tonnes of relief aid in two flights within 48 hours.
