Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Tuesday rejected claims by the Afghan Taliban that Pakistan had targeted a hospital or drug rehabilitation centre in Kabul. He called the allegations false and baseless.
Minister Tarar emphasized that Pakistan’s military operations focus solely on terrorist elements and strategic military targets. He clarified that no civilian installations, including hospitals, were affected during the strikes.
The operations took place on the night of March 16 in Kabul and Nangarhar. According to the minister, the strikes targeted weapons depots and terrorist infrastructure. Video evidence provided to media outlets clearly shows the destruction of arms stockpiles, not civilian facilities.
Tarar criticized the Afghan Taliban for spreading misinformation using old footage and fabricated claims. He said the explosions and flames seen in the videos confirm that only military and terrorist targets were hit.
The minister also warned that the principal threat of terrorism in the region continues to originate from Afghan territory. He highlighted that children and drug addicts are sometimes used in acts of terrorism, which further necessitates targeted operations against these networks.
He reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue taking all necessary measures to combat terrorism. The government aims to prevent cross-border militants from finding safe havens and will act decisively against any threats.
