ISLAMABAD – The federal government has officially declared a public holiday on October 20, applicable across Pakistan. According to the notification, all government offices, educational institutions, and banks will remain closed on the day.

The announcement aims to provide citizens a day of rest and allow participation in planned national activities. Provincial governments have also been directed to ensure the implementation of the holiday across their respective regions.

Essential services, including hospitals, emergency response units, and law enforcement agencies, will continue their operations as usual. However, routine administrative work, court hearings, and educational activities will remain suspended for the day.

Public transport is expected to run on a limited schedule, while several local events are likely to be organized in connection with the day’s observance. Private offices may also remain closed depending on internal management decisions.

The declaration follows similar measures in recent months when holidays were announced for public observances and national events. Citizens have welcomed the news, seeing it as a timely break amid the ongoing work schedule.

Further details regarding regional observances and official ceremonies are expected to be released soon by provincial administrations.
