Pakistan Day observed nationwide with simplicity

The nation is observing Pakistan Day today with a renewed commitment to transform the country into a true Islamic and welfare state, honoring the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

This year, traditional Pakistan Day parades and large-scale ceremonial events were scaled down due to ongoing Gulf oil crises and related austerity measures. Despite the reduced festivities, the day was marked with simple flag-hoisting ceremonies across the country. The celebrations began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals, reflecting respect for the nation’s history and founding ideals.

Special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for Pakistan’s progress, prosperity, and stability. National leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, paid tribute to the martyrs, ghazis, and national heroes whose sacrifices paved the way for the country’s creation and endurance.

In their messages, both the President and Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan as a testament to the vision, determination, and perseverance of its founding generation. They reaffirmed the nation’s readiness to uphold its proud traditions and confront any challenges. President Zardari noted the country’s achievements in building institutions, strengthening defense capabilities, and combating terrorism, while emphasizing Pakistan’s stance against any foreign threats.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the government’s efforts to achieve sustainable economic growth amid challenges and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue, pledging continued moral, political, and diplomatic support to the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The nation also received greetings from the top military leadership, including Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, who reiterated that the Armed Forces, alongside resilient citizens and law enforcement, remain steadfast in protecting Pakistan’s security.

Pakistan Day continues to stand as a defining moment in history, commemorating the Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940, which laid the foundation for an independent homeland for Muslims of the Subcontinent.
