Pakistan Cuts Industrial Power Tariffs Up to Rs4.58

The government of Pakistan has reduced electricity tariffs for industrial consumers by up to Rs4.58 per unit, offering long-awaited relief to factories struggling with some of the region’s highest energy costs and persistent competitiveness challenges in export and manufacturing sectors.

The notification was issued by the Power Division following a decision by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority on February 11, 2026, confirming revised rates that will replace January tariffs and remain applicable nationwide until December 2026 for all distribution companies.

Under the updated structure, small industrial consumers in the B1 category will now pay Rs26.23 per unit instead of Rs30.80, while off-peak rates have dropped sharply. However, they will face a new fixed monthly charge of Rs1,250, marking a structural shift in billing policy.

Medium-scale B2 industries also received major relief, with energy tariffs reduced to Rs26.16 per unit. Off-peak rates saw the largest decline, reflecting government efforts to encourage night-time industrial production and optimize national electricity demand distribution throughout the grid system.

High-tension B3 and largest B4 industrial users will also benefit from notable reductions, with energy charges lowered to around Rs27 and Rs26.43 respectively. Officials say cheaper off-peak tariffs will particularly help export-oriented industries and continuous-process manufacturers maintain output without escalating operational costs.

Domestic users saw limited adjustments. Lifeline consumers will continue paying minimal rates, while some protected and non-protected households will face fixed charges. Distribution firms including K-Electric must implement the revised framework, signaling broader reforms aimed at stabilizing power prices and supporting economic growth.
