The Pakistan Cricket Team will face New Zealand in their first Super 8 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 today. The match is the 41st of the tournament and will start at 6:30 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
This match is crucial for Pakistan’s chances to reach the semi-finals, scheduled for March 4 and 5. Both Pakistan and New Zealand finished second in their groups during the first stage, winning three out of four matches each. Pakistan lost only to India but defeated the USA, the Netherlands, and Namibia.
Friday’s practice session in Colombo was canceled due to rain, adding pressure on the Pakistan Cricket Team. Fans across the country are hoping for a strong performance from the Green Shirts.
In past T20 World Cup encounters, Pakistan has an upper hand over New Zealand. The two teams have played seven times in the tournament, with Pakistan winning five matches. Their last meeting was in the 2022 semi-final, where Pakistan won by seven wickets. New Zealand’s last victory against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup was in 2016, winning by 22 runs.
Following today’s match, Pakistan will face two-time champions England in Kandy on February 24. Their final Super 8 match will be against co-hosts Sri Lanka on February 28.
