Pakistan Condemns Israeli Strikes on Iran at UN, Backs Tehran’s Right to Self-Defence

Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran, labelling them as “unjustified and illegitimate aggression” during a United Nations Security Council briefing. The condemnation was voiced by Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, who warned that the attacks risk plunging the Middle East into deeper instability.

Ambassador Ahmad expressed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Iranian people and extended condolences over the loss of lives and destruction of infrastructure caused by the Israeli assault. He emphasized that the strikes violated Iran’s sovereignty and international legal norms.

In his remarks, Ahmad pointed out that the Israeli action breaches the UN Charter and called attention to Iran’s right to self-defence under Article 51. “Pakistan stands in resolute solidarity with the brotherly people of Iran,” he said, adding that aggression of this nature cannot go unchecked on the international stage.

The Iranian delegation thanked Pakistan, alongside China, Algeria, and Russia, for supporting the call for an emergency UN session. These countries backed Iran’s stance that the Israeli operation was a clear act of unlawful aggression deserving international scrutiny.
