Pakistan-China relations were strengthened during the seventh round of their strategic dialogue, with both countries agreeing to enhance cooperation against terrorism and advance the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Both nations praised Pakistan’s comprehensive measures against terrorism and the protection of Chinese nationals and projects. The joint communiqué emphasized that Afghanistan must take verifiable steps to ensure its territory is not used against any other country.
The dialogue also highlighted key areas of collaboration, including Gwadar Port, the Karakoram Highway, sustainable development, technology, and cybersecurity. China reaffirmed its respect for Pakistan’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, while both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in defense, trade, and economic development.
Officials affirmed a zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and pledged to boost security cooperation. Pakistan’s efforts to protect Chinese nationals and projects were acknowledged, and both countries stressed the elimination of terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil.
Pakistan reiterated its commitment to the One-China policy, supporting China on Taiwan, the South China Sea, and Hong Kong. In return, China reaffirmed its support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both nations agreed to expand cooperation for socio-economic development and mutual strategic interests.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties, celebrated with events promoting the “ironclad” friendship and exploring new areas of partnership. The dialogue emphasized high-level contacts and a five-year action plan to build a joint Pakistan-China community.
Future cooperation under CPEC will focus on industry, agriculture, minerals, sustainable development, and cybersecurity. The Khunjerab Pass will remain open year-round for trade and people-to-people exchanges. Space collaboration is also progressing, with Pakistani astronauts expected to join China’s space station soon.

The next Pakistan-China strategic dialogue is scheduled to be held in Islamabad next year, further cementing the countries’ enduring partnership in regional peace, stability, and development.
