Pakistan and Bangladesh air chiefs held high-level talks on defence cooperation, including the potential procurement of JF-17 fighter aircraft, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan visited Islamabad and met with Pakistan Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu. He led a senior defence delegation and received a guard of honour on arrival.
According to the ISPR, both air forces discussed ways to strengthen operational cooperation and institutional coordination. The talks focused on training, capacity building, and collaboration in aerospace development.
Air Chief Marshal Babar Sidhu briefed the visiting delegation on recent advancements of the Pakistan Air Force. He assured full support for the Bangladesh Air Force through a comprehensive training framework, including basic, advanced, and specialised courses at PAF institutions.
The PAF chief also confirmed the fast-tracked delivery of Super Mushshak trainer aircraft, along with complete training and long-term maintenance support for Bangladesh Air Force personnel.
Bangladesh’s air chief praised Pakistan Air Force’s combat experience and expressed interest in adopting its operational practices. He also requested support in maintenance of ageing aircraft and the integration of advanced air defence radar systems to improve air surveillance.
The discussions included the potential procurement of JF-17 fighter jets, which could strengthen Bangladesh’s operational capabilities. Both sides emphasized the importance of long-term cooperation in training, maintenance, and aerospace development.
Following the official talks, the Bangladeshi delegation toured key Pakistan Air Force facilities to review training programs and operational infrastructure. ISPR said the visit highlighted the commitment of both nations to enhance defence ties and mutual readiness.
