Rear Admiral Shahin Mammadov, Commander of the Azerbaijan Naval Forces (ANF), paid an official visit to Pakistan and met with Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad. The visit underscores the ongoing close naval cooperation between the two countries.
Upon arrival, Rear Admiral Mammadov was received by Admiral Ashraf, and a smartly turned out contingent of the Pakistan Navy presented a Guard of Honour. The visiting dignitary also laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada’s Monument, paying tribute to Pakistan’s naval martyrs.
During the meeting, both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, regional maritime security, and explored avenues for enhanced collaboration in training and defense. They emphasized the importance of strengthening and diversifying the existing bilateral defense relationship.
A detailed briefing was provided to Rear Admiral Mammadov on Pakistan Navy’s ongoing projects, highlighting the country’s initiatives to enhance operational capabilities, modernization, and strategic maritime infrastructure.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan share longstanding brotherly relations, marked by consistent naval cooperation and mutual support in regional maritime security initiatives. The visit is expected to further strengthen ties between the two navies.
Officials noted that the engagement will not only enhance defense collaboration but also promote exchanges in training, joint exercises, and knowledge sharing between the Pakistan Navy and Azerbaijan Naval Forces.
The visit reflects both countries’ commitment to deepening strategic partnership in defense and regional security, building on decades of amicable relations and shared objectives in the maritime domain.
