Pakistan and the US have begun a counter-terrorism drill involving infantry companies in Pabbi

Pakistan and the United States have launched the Infantry Rifle Company Exchange Exercise-2024 aimed at enhancing tactical skills in combating terrorism at the subunit level. The exercise commenced at the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Pabbi, Pakistan, involving infantry companies from both countries. Its primary objective is to exchange counter-terrorism experiences and refine tactical drills and procedures crucial for effective operations against terrorism. Specifically, the exercise focuses on improving marksmanship skills in urban warfare scenarios and adopting best practices at the subunit level.

The inaugural event was overseen by the General Officer Commanding Kharian Garrison, highlighting the exercise’s importance in military cooperation between Pakistan and the United States. Islamabad and Washington maintain a cooperative stance in addressing terrorism, recognizing Pakistan’s critical role in regional security dynamics, particularly concerning stability in Afghanistan and countering terrorism in South Asia. The level of engagement between the two nations fluctuates based on mutual trust and geopolitical factors, with a shared commitment to enhancing stability and security in the region.
