Pakistan and Qatar Strengthen Bilateral Ties in Second Round of Political Consultations
Pakistan and Qatar convened the second round of political consultations in Doha, focusing on enhancing cooperation across various sectors.
The meeting was led by Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch and Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Marakhi.

Key Discussions and Areas of Cooperation
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, discussions covered:
- Political and economic collaboration
- Consular affairs and people-to-people relations
- Regional and international developments
Both sides acknowledged positive progress in their relations and emphasized the importance of high-level visits to strengthen diplomatic ties. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in all mutually beneficial areas and agreed to continue consultations on key issues.
Postponement of Annual Bilateral Consultations
Earlier, on February 5, the annual bilateral consultations between Pakistan and Qatar were postponed, according to official sources.
- The Foreign Office had previously announced high-level talks, with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar leading Pakistan’s delegation.
- However, the talks were delayed due to Ishaq Dar’s sudden departure to China for an official visit.
- Both countries are in contact to finalize new dates for the rescheduled consultations.
State media reported that Ishaq Dar had chaired an interministerial conference to prepare for the Pakistan-Qatar consultations. The agenda was set to include:
- Trade and investment
- Defence cooperation
- Shared diplomatic objectives

The next round of Pakistan-Qatar political consultations will be held in Islamabad, with both nations continuing efforts to deepen bilateral ties.
