Pakistan has announced the renewal of the Kartarpur Corridor agreement with India for an additional five years. According to a statement from the Foreign Office, this agreement is designed to facilitate pilgrims visiting Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Narowal, Pakistan.
Originally signed on October 24, 2019, for a five-year term, the agreement is set to conclude its initial duration on the 24th of this month. The renewal highlights Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to promoting interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence.

The agreement continues to provide visa-free access to Indian pilgrims, allowing them to visit the sacred site where Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, spent his final days. Since its inception, the Kartarpur Corridor has enabled thousands of worshippers to pilgrimage to this significant religious landmark.
This initiative addresses the longstanding aspirations of the Sikh community for access to one of their most revered sites and demonstrates Pakistan’s recognition of the importance of protecting the rights of religious minorities. The initiative has received considerable appreciation from the international community, including the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, who referred to it as a “Corridor of Hope.”
