A joint counterterrorism exercise, Warrior-IX, is currently underway between the Pakistan Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The two-week-long exercise aims to strengthen military-to-military cooperation and enhance operational coordination.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Warrior-IX focuses on promoting mutual understanding and improving joint responses to security challenges. The exercise includes a series of drills designed to simulate real-life counterterrorism operations and emergency scenarios.
China’s Ambassador Jiang Zaidong attended the exercise as a special guest, while the Chief of General Staff participated personally. During the visit, the guests were briefed on the scope, objectives, and arrangements of the exercise. They observed multiple drills and commended the participating troops for their professionalism, discipline, and high morale.
The exercise highlights the strong defence cooperation between Pakistan and China. Both militaries emphasized their commitment to working together for regional stability and security. Officials noted that such joint exercises enhance operational readiness and improve coordination in combating terrorism and other threats.
In addition to combat drills, Warrior-IX also focuses on intelligence-sharing, tactical planning, and rapid response strategies. The exercise allows both armed forces to exchange knowledge and best practices, further strengthening bilateral military relations.
ISPR stated that the ongoing exercise reaffirms the determination of Pakistan and China to cooperate in maintaining peace and security. It also underscores the importance of international collaboration in addressing complex security challenges, particularly in the domain of counterterrorism.
