Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik met with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, on Thursday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations, particularly in the energy sector, and explore new avenues for economic cooperation.

Minister Malik expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s steadfast support during Pakistan’s recent conflict with India, highlighting the strong brotherly ties between the two nations and conveying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s appreciation for Azerbaijan’s solidarity.

“Pakistan is thankful to its brotherly nations for standing with us during difficult times,” he said, stressing the importance of boosting cooperation in oil and gas exploration, energy trade, and investment.

Ambassador Farhadov reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthening economic and energy ties, emphasizing shared goals of enhancing energy connectivity and regional development.

“Azerbaijan greatly values its relationship with Pakistan and is committed to advancing our historic friendship through stronger economic partnerships,” he stated.

Minister Malik also announced his planned participation in Baku Energy Week, where he will engage with global energy leaders to attract investment and promote sustainable energy initiatives.

He noted that Azerbaijan’s state-owned company, SOCAR Upstream, is in discussions with Pakistani stakeholders for potential collaboration in oil and gas exploration, promising new opportunities for both countries.

Both officials agreed to accelerate talks on joint ventures and strategic projects, expressing optimism about future cooperation to strengthen energy security and mutual benefits.
