The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings highlight the world’s top universities that are 50 years old or younger. These rankings use the same performance indicators as the flagship World University Rankings but with adjusted weightings to reduce the emphasis on reputation. The universities are evaluated across core missions such as teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook, ensuring a comprehensive and balanced comparison.

For 2024, the ranking includes 673 universities, up from 605 in 2023. Additionally, 499 institutions are listed with “reporter” status, indicating they provided data but did not qualify for a rank.
Nanyang Technological University in Singapore remains at the top for the second consecutive year. Hong Kong maintains a strong presence in the top 10, though individual university performances vary. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology dropped from second to third place, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University fell from fourth to seventh, while City University of Hong Kong improved to fourth place.
