The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) confiscated and destroyed over 2,270 kilograms of diseased poultry during a crackdown at Lahore’s Tollinton Market, one of the city’s major meat distribution centers.
The operation, conducted early in the morning, involved setting up roadblocks around the market to inspect more than 89,000 kilograms of poultry being distributed citywide. Officials examined 25 cold storage facilities and meat vendors during the raid.
Three businesses were fined for breaching food safety standards. PFA confirmed that the seized meat was hazardous to health and unfit for human consumption.
This action is part of the PFA’s ongoing campaign to combat the sale of substandard and unsafe meat across Punjab. The authority reaffirmed its dedication to providing citizens with safe and hygienic food.
