[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Kevin Spacey is an aggressive “sexual bully” who abuses men and gets turned on when his unwelcome attempts create fury, according to a British prosecutor at the commencement of the Oscar-winning US actor’s sex offence trial on Friday.
Spacey, 63, has pleaded not guilty to a dozen charges of past sex crimes perpetrated against four men in their twenties and thirties between 2001 and 2013. His lawyer called the allegations “damned lies.”
Opening the prosecution case at London’s Southwark Crown Court, barrister Christine Agnew told the jury that the “predatory” Spacey was not only a well-known actor who had won numerous honours, but also “a man who sexually assaults other men.”
“A sexual bully is a man who does not respect personal boundaries or space, a man who appears to delight in making others feel powerless and uncomfortable,” Agnew added.
“His preferred method of assault appears to be aggressively grabbing other men in the crotch.”
Spacey, who is being tried by the full name Kevin Spacey Fowler, sat in the dock wearing a grey suit, a gold tie, and glasses.
Repeated episodes of indecent and sexual assault are among the claims levelled against him. He is also charged with causing a person to participate in penetrative sexual activity without consent, which carries a possible sentence of life in prison.

“Each of these allegations of non-consensual sexual conduct is completely denied,” his attorney, Patrick Gibbs, said. “Mr Spacey has returned to the UK as he promised to answer them and say in full what actually happened as he would say it, putting all rumours and conjecture to rest.”
Agnew detailed the four men’s charges, saying Spacey regularly grabbed and groped them or forced their hands against his own genitalia, and performed oral sex on one while he was unconscious.
‘Sexual Urge’
When one man informed him he couldn’t touch him again after Spacey gripped his crotch forcefully, the actor “simply laughed and commented that his getting angry simply turned him on,” according to Agnew.
The allegations against Spacey, who won Oscars for best actor in 2000 for American Beauty and best supporting actor in 1996 for The Usual Suspects, occurred during his more than a decade working at the Old Vic theatre in London.
In police questioning, Spacey stated that he had no memory of some of his accusers and denied groping them, while he stated that it was “entirely possible and indeed likely” that he made a clumsy pass at someone he did not recall, according to Agnew.
The prosecution stated that the jury, which she warned might be “a little star-struck,” would have to decide if the accusers were lying or fabricating claims in order to benefit financially, with some of them suing the actor in civil court.
“Or, as the prosecution contends, did Mr Spacey Fowler abuse the power and influence that his reputation and fame provided him?” She stated.
According to Spacey’s lawyer, there were obviously two sides to the allegations, and jurors would need to assess what actually happened, whether it was consensual, and what motivated the accusers to file their charges.
“You will hear some truths, some half-truths, some deliberate exaggerations, and many damned lies,” says the author.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
